Now in its third year, Pantene has partnered with the Westfield Matildas and the 2021 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras to launch the latest Ribbon of Strength campaign.

The Ribbon of Strength is a powerful message to the world to encourage all women to overcome their fears, find their inner strength and actively participate in sport

Because strength really is all in the head.

New research by Pantene Australia has found that only 6 per cent of Australia’s LGBTQI+ community currently play a team sport.

Alarmingly, 76 per cent of respondents who say they’d be open to playing for a sports team have faced crippling barriers which have prevented them from doing so. The greatest barriers are fear of judgement and lack of confidence, accounting for 62 per cent.

The latest Ribbon of Strength campaign features Matildas players including Katrina Gorry and Tameka Yallop sharing their personal stories of strength and the role of team sport in their lives.

The Pantene Ribbons of Strength, which are usually gold and have been distributed to over 100,000 Australians to date, are now available in a limited-edition Pride format featuring a rainbow design.

The ribbons can be worn as a symbol to show support for LGBTQI+ people in sport and requested for free by sending a direct message to @PanteneANZ on Instagram.

Because for every voice saying you cant, theres a million women saying you can.
